Dec. 7, 2022 - Bill Gates once famously said, "The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don't really even notice it, so it's part of everyday life." With all the bells and whistles that come with the relentless advance of tech, it's a great thing to remember. Once the "Oh wow!" factor fades, technology must be reliable, intuitive, and sometimes nearly invisible.
You can see that philosophy at work in the solutions created for business and the home by Crestron's network of dealers, installers, integrators, IT pros, and even customers themselves. Some of those professionals are kind enough to share their projects with us, and every year Crestron creates dozens of case studies as a result of that generosity.
2022 was no different. While space precludes a mention of every project we spotlighted this year, here's a sampling of some stellar examples. These nine case studies really illustrate the depth of expertise that Crestron pros bring to every job and the quality of the gear that's being installed.

Updated Conference Rooms Using Crestron Flex at PUMA
PUMA, a global sports company with more than 70 years of experience under its belt, merged two existing offices to create a new North American HQ in Boston. To meet the challenges of a hybrid staff, PUMA used Crestron Flex for Microsoft Teams® Rooms to replace a patchwork of other systems for a consistent UX in every conference room. "Not every space can be designed the same, especially as the requirements change for each size," says Dylan O'Connor, PUMA VP of IT. "Crestron Flex allows us to customize the solution to fit each space while still delivering a familiar experience."
An Integration That Acts as a Demo Space at Cushman & Wakefield
This global real estate services firm was making the switch from Skype® for Business software to the Microsoft Teams® platform and needed a conferencing solution for both retrofits in existing offices and new locations. At the core of the solution was the Crestron Flex line of products, including some custom Flex configurations that lined up with existing peripherals. The resulting integration also acts as something of a demo for the firm's clients, according to Cushman & Wakefield's Global Unified Communications Architect, Sagar Modi: "We bring in our clients to demonstrate what today's offices should look like and what can be accomplished within each space."

An Airborne Training and Medical Facility: The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital
The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital® medical service is one of a kind: a fully accredited ophthalmic teaching hospital on board a working aircraft that travels the globe. The Crestron technology in that plane (a McDonnell Douglas MD-10) was first selected in 2014. After the plane was forced out of the sky by the pandemic, Orbis took advantage of the downtime to update all the onboard solutions. That meant that the Orbis team, led by Audio Visual Specialist Jangaiah Chalamala with chief consultant Lincoln King-Cliby, commercial market director for ControlWorks Consulting, LLC, had to embark on a massively complex undertaking. The project demanded cabling and heat mitigation in extremely tight spaces, power generation and conditioning in a wide variety of locales, weight reduction, and a host of other challenges. The result: An aircraft packed with reliable technology that can function even in the most remote corners of the world.

A Top-Notch Esports Venue at UNC Greensboro
The Chancellor of the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Dr. Franklin D. Gilliam Jr., sat on an advisory committee for the NCAA. During his tenure there, he had something of a lightbulb moment: After learning about the League of Legends World Championship, Dr. Gilliam came to understand the impact esports could have for UNCG: a place for competitive events, a learning lab, a social venue for students — all in one. UNCG partnered with Horizon AVL and Esports Integration to create a 3,300-square-foot space with Crestron DM NVX® technology at its core: The UNCG Esports Arena. The installation was, in a word, smooth. "Working with Crestron equipment in the arena was uneventful in really the best way possible," says Todd Sutton, associate vice chancellor for learning technology and customer success at UNCG.

A Truly Intuitive Integration at the Asia School of Business
The mission here was straightforward: Bring solutions to a modern campus that was so intuitive and reliable that instructors could truly focus on teaching — not technology. "Crestron DM NVX has helped us limit costly human intervention for troubleshooting and technical support," says Yusalman Azua Bin Uyop, the school's technical manager for AV Services." That's far from the only benefit. "Overall, our AV operations now require minimal manpower," he says. "From one location, our AV team can connect to any Crestron device anywhere on campus and push out system updates to hundreds of devices in the same amount of time it takes to update one."

A Mission-Critical Control Center at Brosnan Risk Consultants
Brosnan Risk Consultants is the largest privately held security company in the world, and their resume speaks volumes: For example, their patented Smart Security Solutions integrate law enforcement, military, security professionals, and IT personnel with state-of-the-art technology. The HQ includes a mission-control Emergency Operations Center (EOC) where Brosnan employees connect with their customers and security officers on-site. Crestron control systems help run the room, while Crestron Flex helps keep employees in the EOC connected with those in the field. The integration, led by Vin Bruno of A-V Services, has been incredibly helpful. "The Crestron control system allows us to use all of our existing technology and third-party devices seamlessly," says Serge Suponitskiy, Brosnan's CIO. That's critical for a firm in the business of responding immediately to emergencies and threats in uncertain times.

Crestron Yacht Control Aboard the Azimut Trideck 38
One of the quickest ways to find out if a control system aboard a luxury yacht is up to snuff? Answer this question: Is the captain happy? "I've seen so many other boats with different systems, and they're not comparable. One of the best." Those words are from the skipper of the Azimut Trideck 38, Ramazan Dogan, regarding the integration of his ship with Crestron controls. There's a variety of solutions on board, all controlled by Crestron: lighting shading, cinema functions, and the crew call system as well. Additionally, the yacht's outfitted with Crestron DM NAX™ technology to deliver music and other content to every zone of the ship, from the various decks to the owner's suite and the jacuzzi area.
